THE
QUEST FOR THE SILVER ROOF – THE
NATIONAL POINTS SHOOTOUT 2012
THE NATIONAL POINTS SERIES 2012....
The race for the Silver roof
has developed into the most compelling
series within BriSCA Formula One Stock Car
Racing and ended with a classic in 2011 at
Manchester's iconic Belle Vue Stadium Mid
November.
It proved to be the most open
competition in the history of the sport with
the destiny of the title only decided during
the last race of the series and Craig
Finnikin crowned victor.
The 2012 series commences on
March 25th when the season opens in
Manchester before the cameras TV cameras
of PremierSports and already the
anticipation is building and even more
drivers looking for the ultimate glory in
BriSCA F1 - Already 2012 is looking a must
see season!
How it works:-
While the Gold roof / World Champion in
BriSCA Formula One Stock Car racing is
determined by a one-off race at the end of a
long series of qualification the National
Points Series, which determines which
driver’s car wears the Silver roof is
decided by a race series which features
throughout the season.
Over the past few years there have been some
very tight finishes to the National Points
Series title and in 2009 there was a new,
and a very significant twist whereby a ten
meeting NASCAR-style shoot-out was
introduced at the end of the year for the
top ten drivers from 25 designated meetings.
This proved to be successful and was tweaked
for 2010 with 12 drivers `making the cut'
and led to one of the most compelling season
endings in recent history..
This year all meetings from Belle Vue on
March 25th to mid August will count after
which the top twelve drivers will once again
progress to the 'shootout' element of the
competition. Their scores will be re set to
zero, but will then have bonus points added
to make up a starting score for the
Shootout. Two points will be given for each
meeting attended plus one point for each
meeting final win.
The final round, or Series Finale is the
culmination of the 10 meeting Shoot-Out
carries double points and takes place at
Belle Vue Stadium, Manchester on Sunday 11th
November .
The scene is set, the
Qualifying starts March 25th and the 2012
`Shoot Out begins over 10 rounds on August
25th. Keep checking for updates on
