| 2006 BriSCA F1 Hall of Fame The
History Makers First time
BriSCA F1 final winners in 2006 were John Riley, Craig Utley, Steve
Lewin and Daniel Johnson.
The come back kids or is it old timers
were out in force in 2006.
Derek Fairhurst won the fifth final of
his career in 2006 and his first at Skegness . His first BriSCA F1 final
came twenty four years ago in 1982 at Hartlepool. 1993 &1994 saw
victories at Bradford and 2002 at Swindon.
John Lawn won his third career final
his previous two were at Long Eaton in 1981 and 1982.
Mal Brown’s final win at Belle Vue was
the third of his career the other two being at Belle Vue (Hyde Road) in
1983 and Bradford in 1992.
Rob Cowley won the sixth final of his
career and his first ever at Northampton. His previous final wins came
at Scunthorpe in 1990, Long Eaton in 1994, Skegness in 1998 and Swaffham
and Birmingham in 2001. Six wins at six different tracks.
Neil Scothern won his first ever final
on tarmac at Skegness to bring his career total to four. The other three
victories were all at Coventry in 1994,1997 and 2002.
Frankie Wainman Jnr became only the
ninth driver in the history of the sport to win 20 or more finals in one
season.
The others were Doug Wardropper, Fred
Mitchell, Ellis Ford, Stuart Smith, Doug Cronshaw, Len Wolfenden, John
Lund, and Peter Falding.
Andy Smith’s six final successes in
2006 move his career total to 67. He know sits at equal thirteenth
alongside Mick Noden in BriSCA’s all time final winners. There is quite
a big gap to arrive in the top ten Peter Falding occupying this position
with 95 career finals in the UK.
Paul Harrison reached an important
career milestone in 2006 when he won his fiftieth BriSCA F1 career
final. Only twenty one other drivers in the history of the sport have
achieved fifty UK final wins.
